Understanding War Matchmaking
Clan match making system in wars are based on a data called "weight". The total weight of all the villages in your clan which participants in the war will decides the next opponent.
For example, if your clan's weight is 400,000, the opponent's weight should also be approximately 400,000.
War Weight
To calculate your weight, every building/troop/trap/etc have a certain value that contributes to the weight. Thank you to Moskri Clashheads for this valuable information. Click on the Dropbox icon to download the Excel Spreadsheet. Just change the levels in the boxes to cater to your own base to calculate your own weight.
Even if you don't understand the total war weight and how it relates to you. Just undestand that certain buildings carry a heavy war weight.
For example, a maximum level Air Defences (AD) is 320, and maximum level Air Sweeper (AS) is 60. Whereas, a level 1 Inferno Tower is 1000, and a level 1 X-bow is 400. Therefore, upgrading your AD to the maximum level at town hall 10 won't affect your weight much, as compared to just bulding that 1 addition Inferno Tower.
Thus, after upgrading town halls, it is important to upgrade your attacking troops first so that you're able to hold your own weight in war to attack your mirror. And even though you may be a rushed town hall, the town hall structure itself does not contribute to the weight as you can see in the Excel file.
*Please note that the excel file is not updated with Dark Spells and also not updated to the latest change in war weight calculation after the 21st March 2016 update.
